How to Install a Bidet Seat in Australia
Fitting a bidet seat to a toilet you already have is one of the simplest bathroom upgrades you can make. No tiling, no new toilet, no renovation. In most homes the whole thing is done inside an hour.
What installation involves
- The old toilet seat comes off. Two bolts.
- The bracket goes on and the bidet seat slides into place. Our Fit Guide shows which models suit round and D-shape pans.
- The water connects. The supply is turned off, the T-valve that comes in the box goes in between the cistern and the supply line, and the hose connects to the seat. No new pipework.
- Power, for electric models only. Electric bidet seats plug into a standard power point. If there is no outlet near your toilet, an electrician can add one, or you can choose a non-electric bidet that needs no power at all.
- Water back on, quick check, done.
Typically 15 to 60 minutes depending on the setup. Non-electric models sit at the quicker end.
Do you need a plumber?
Connecting to the water supply is plumbing work, and requirements differ around the country. We recommend having that part done by a plumber.
It is a short job, and everything required for installation is already in the box: T-valve, hose and fittings. There is nothing extra to buy and no trip to the hardware store.
